Nine Network Lobby

Site: St. Louis, MO, United States

Status: Conceptual Design

Program: Cultural

Client: KETC/Nine Network

The Nine Network Lobby cohesively blends exiting design parameters of the television station, the plaza, and the public radio station. The perforated metal skin of the Media Commons Project was extracted to wrap the upper patio for consistency in materiality. The lobby volume was pulled into the plaza level to create a dialogue from the upper cantilever of the UMSL in Grand Center project. This strategy creates a relationship between Nine Network and UMSL by framing the plaza. The viewing ports on the exterior wall narrate historical events of Nine Network and public television. Just past the entry viewing ports, the entry corridor is a place to receive information about current events and programs at Nine Network, as well as, recognizing donors and their contributions to build public media in St. Louis.
